Getting behind on LJ/email...
Jul. 28th, 2009 03:16 amBut it's largely because I'm all distracted about the fact that WE CLOSE TODAY!!!!!
Hypothetically, I should own two new houses by the end of the day. Wow. Time for the moving craziness to begin in earnest; Grafton and I fly to AL obscenely early Thursday morning. We get in, help Dad move some new furniture back to their house (especially since he managed to fall and break three ribs a couple of weeks ago, and has a bad tendency to push himself), then we start loading up furniture and stuff that Mom and Dad are passing along to me as they prepare for their own move. We load up, toss Musicalchaos' new car on a car carrier, and make the drive back up to Ohio. As soon as we unload the truck, we have to see how much use we can fit in doing local trips until it's due back two days later. A week later, Grafton makes a trip home to collect more furniture from MD. Because of the plumbing emergency in Bec and Jer's place, we're reversing order of move a bit. Caleb will probably still move into the new place almost immediately, both so he's closer to work and has some quiet time, and so we've got someone onsite to prevent break-in temptations. However, Bec and Jer will likely be moving sooner, rather than later, to get them away from the mold issue they're now living with. This means appliance purchase for the back house is now higher on the priority list, followed closely by the floor in the front house and setting up the cat box room (don't want to confuse the cats by moving their pee location once they move in -- that way lies disaster). We also need to get the back gate installed ASAP. Oy. Budget stress. It's going to be tight for a few months before the benefits of our drop in cost of living really kicks in.
Anyone local who's up for helping with the move, this coming Mon/Tues are likely to be big days for us, although there will be ongoing moving action all month, and any day you're up for spending an hour in an evening helping us with a load in Grafton's truck, that's awesome! We've gotten a lot of offers of help, which is wonderful, especially given how much stuff I have, particularly. Aside from the days when we've got the truck, I'm trying to spread things out as much as possible, and do a load or two a day in Grafton's truck when it's not raining, rather than making one massive push.
If I'm particularly bad about returning calls/emails in the next few weeks, this is why. Not intentionally ignoring people, just hugely overwhelmed.
I have a tag called "vacations" that I use for travel plans. It seems singularly inappropriate as a description for this coming weekend.
