Tiller Vindicated, New Complaint Filed

How many times is he going to have to go through this crap?

Don't answer that.

geewhiz... Tiller is a smart and good guy. He's helped a lot of my former patients who would have otherwise not had access to late-term abortions after a serious or lethal fetal anomaly was discovered.

*nod* It's amazing how many people just really aren't clear on the reasons we need people like him so desperately. They don't understand that this is a particularly rare form of specialty care that's essential for the well-being of women who can't continue a pregnancy for some reason.

This. When I lived in MO we took it for granted, as Dr. Tiller's clinic was not far away. If you don't live in the central US, it can be quite a hike to get to KS, and beyond your means, even with assistance. For some women, his services are out of reach even when they know about them. Hard stuff all around...

*nod* It really is. I don't recall where it was published (although I know it was somewhere really mainstream), but there was an article a year or two ago about a woman with great health insurance and a good income and all, and her baby died in utero. The article was about what it was like for her to try to find anyone with the experience and willingness to do a third-trimester procedure so she didn't have to carry a dead fetus to term and go through an entire labor. It was heart-breaking, even more so because it was obvious that if _she_ was having this much trouble, with all her resources, the percentage of women who'd have a worse time was startlingly high. *sigh*
