Trying to catch up... As usual, partially a list for myself, so I haven't finished reading everything here.

The war on drugs may be a noble intention, but the illegal growing of marijuana is destroying our environment and we need to step in. -- small scale organic is the way to go. We should be encouraging it.
Background: Timeline of Events Since Iranian Election
http://www.hrc.org/documents/HRC_Equality_Forward_2009.pdf has this interesting set of stats in it:
Page 9:
"About half of the LGBT people of color in this survey identify as gay or
lesbian (51 percent) and another 41 percent identify as bisexual. The
remaining 8 percent use a number of other terms to describe their sexual
orientation, including queer, intersexual, asexual, human and prefer not to
use labels.
A majority of men identify as gay (55 percent), while just over a third say
they are bisexual (38 percent). Women split evenly between identifying as
lesbian (43 percent) or bisexual (45 percent)."

Go, Preterm! (this is from the newsletter of one of the clinics where I escort): Preterm's Commitment to Women & the World
In case you haven't heard, Preterm is undergoing a Green Transformation to become an environmentally sustainable clinic. People have been asking us why we've made this a priority.
Becoming a green medical facility is good for our patients and staff because it means cleaner air, which helps prevent infections and environment-related illnesses like asthma. It's good for the organization because a sustainable, energy-efficient building costs less to operate, which helps us keep our services affordable and high quality. It's good for our community and the entire planet because a green building conserves resources and produces less waste and pollution.
Becoming a green abortion clinic has special significance. Across the world and in this community, women and children, especially poor women and children, are affected disproportionately by environmental degradation. These women are our patients, and for most of them it is out of concern for their children and families that they use our services.
We care deeply for women and their families. We believe in women's right to determine whether or when to have children, to become parents and parent with dignity, to have healthy pregnancies, and to have healthy and safe families and relationships, including a healthy environment in which to live, work, and play.
So when we were faced with some major building system replacements and renovation needs, we looked at what would be best for women's health and welfare. The result was our plan to Act Boldly, Live Gently, and transform Preterm into a clinic that treats the environment with the same care that we treat the women we serve.

(R: Participants calculate carbon footprints at our workshop at the Abortion Care Network conference in March. L: Our green mascot shows off one of our new energy-efficient boilers.)
This spring, we shared our progress with other clinics at two national conferences. We're about to enter the rigorous "performance period" for our LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings) certification. This is an intensive 6 months of measuring and documenting our sustainability improvements in our building systems and operations.
